Why do you have to wait 10 days between driving tests?

Practical driving tests are purposefully designed to challenge you in all areas of driving. Once you’ve passed, you’ll have your licence for life – so it’s essential the test isn’t too easy! During the practical driving tests, you’ll be monitored carefully by an examiner. Mistakes you make will be marked down as one of three categories: driving fault, serious fault, or dangerous fault.Up to fifteen driving faults are allowed (repeat mistakes of the same thing can cause a failure, though), but one serious or dangerous fault is an immediate failure.

Failure of your driving test is understandably a frustrating experience. You may find yourself wanting to retake the driving test again straight away – especially if it was a simple mistake! Unfortunately, the rules set out by the DVSA dictate that there must be 10 working days between two practical tests. But why is this the case?

Driving tests and their booking restrictions

Firstly, it’s almost impossible to be able to retake your test again straight away – even if you were allowed. You’re probably aware of how booked up most test centres tend to be, with waiting times being weeks, or even months, in advance. Retaking your driving test straight away would likely mean taking someone else’s slot. That would never end well!

Luckily, you don’t necessarily have to wait months; you can often ‘skip the queue’ by looking out for test cancellations. It’s a first-come-first-serve system, though, which could mean constantly sitting online refreshing the booking page. Thankfully, there’s a solution. Use the driving test cancellation checker for a robot to do all the hard work for you! Simply let Drongo the bot know where and when you want your driving test, and he’ll do the hard work for you by constantly checking the DVSA system 24/7. You’ll then receive a text and email notification when a free slot appears, and you can book instantly from there! It will allow you to get as close to the 10-day limit as you possibly can.

Extra practice

The 10 days waiting time between tests exists to give you extra practice before you give it another go. As infuriating as it is, you did probably slip up somewhere during the test, which could be sorted with more practice. Extra driving lessons are not cheap, of course, and the thought of spending potentially hundreds more on refresher lessons is undoubtedly sour. You can keep your skills razor sharp without spending a fortune, though.

Extra experience is always good experience, and you can keep your knowledge fresh without the expense of driving a real car! Consider online 3D driving lessons as a powerful and effective way of revising the many rules of the road. Access it for as much as you need, and at whatever time you need to refine your skills. It’s a fantastic value way of smoothing out your weaker points, without having to spend an extortionate amount of money.

The 10-day waiting period exists for valid reasons, but that doesn’t stop it being annoying. Thankfully, with the cancellation checker and the online 3D driving lessons, you can be back on the road in no time, and for a fantastically cheap price as a bonus.
